The Live Aid spectacular takes off at just before noon on Saturday when BBC 1 will show a short film made by Michael Buerk, whose original news report triggered off the Band Aid phenomenon.
This is immediately followed by the official opening ceremony.
BBC 2 and Radio 1 will broadcast the Wembley concert through till 5pm when the first American act comes through no the satellite from Philly.
The next five hours will be a mixture of British and American, still on BBC 2 and Radio 1, with various other countries feeding into the transmission as the day goes on.
The Wembley show stops at 10pm with a grand finale (who mentioned The Beatles?) and the action from then till 4am is exclusively from Philadelphia on BBC 1.
