Only the little sign "Elvis Costello — rare and unreleased cuts" brings the red thread in the variety of Ihterpreten. Out Of Our Idiot (Demon / TIS) is a compilation of songs that Costello has recorded under constantly changing pseudonyms in the past few years and released as B-sides of singles and bonus tracks on Maxis. So Rare goods from the singer, who has once again found an outlet for his over productivity.
Mixed as the code name the music on the album: Rockabilly in stumbling step—duet with T-Bone Burnett ("The People's Limousine"), a swinging antiphonal singing with Jimmy Cliff ("Seven Day Weekend"), a gorgeous verschmalzte version of the Bacharach classic "Baby It's You" with Nick Lowe at the second micro and in between lots of rare footage with the Costello usual musical joke.
Two other cover versions - Smokey Robinson's "From Head To Toe" and Yoko Ono's "Walking On Ice" - bring the diversity of the album to the brink of chaos. Still - it's a real Costello to the last groove.

Out Of Our Idiot (Demon/TIS) ist eine Zusammenstellung von Songs, die Costello in den vergangenen Jahren unter ständig wechselnden Pseudonymen aufgenommen und als B-Seiten von Singles oder Bonus-Tracks auf Maxis veröffentlicht hat. Rare Ware also von dem Sänger, der wieder einmal ein Ventil für seine Überproduktivität gefunden hat.

Gemischt wie die Decknamen auch die Musik auf dem Album: Rockabilly im Stolperschritt — Duett mit T-Bone Burnett ("The People's Limousine"), ein swingender Wechselgesang mit Jimmy Cliff ("Seven Day Weekend"), eine herrlich verschmalzte Version des Bacharach-Klassikers "Baby It's You" mit Nick Löwe am zweiten Mikro und dazwischen jede Menge seltene Aufnahmen mit dem Costello-gewohnten musikalischen Witz.
