Elvis Costello's new album American Ransom is reportedly scheduled for release October 5 on the Hear Music label.

It was recorded in Nashville with producer T Bone Burnett over a nine day period toward the end of February and beginning of March.

Members of The Sugarcanes and The Imposters are rumored to have been involved in the sessions. A confirmed participant is Jim Lauderdale, who mentioned his involvement in a recent interview, noting that Elvis "cut a lot of songs" and speculating that a song they wrote together (possibly Poor Borrowed Dress or I've Lost You) may appear on the album.

At his June 21 concert in Birmingham, England, Elvis identified A Slow Drag With Josephine as a song from the new album.

Other songs in Elvis' recent concert repertoire which could perhaps appear on American Ransom include:

Dr. Watson I Presume
One Bell Ringing
You Hung The Moon
Condemned Man
Five Small Words
That's Not The Part Of Him You're Leaving
Jimmie Standing In The Rain
Bullets For The New-Born King
The Spell That You Cast
Stations Of The Cross
Lucky Dog
I Hope
