I remember Elvis Costello playing a magician in No Surrender but which other movies has our Dec appeared in? — S. O'Brien, Andover, Hants
During 1977. Elvis and The Attractions appeared in If It Ain't Stiff It Ain't Worth A... a documentary covering the first Stiff Records tour, and in '79, he could be glimpsed performing "I Don't Want To Go To Chelsea" and "Watching The Detectives" in Americathon. After that came The Concerts For The People Of Kampuchea (1980) in which he warbled "The Imposter" before turning up in TV series Scully (1984) playing the title character's retarded brother. In No Surrender (1986), Elvis again went thespian to portray Rosco de Ville, a totally inept man of magic, while Straight To Hell (1987) saw him portraying Hives the butler.
Additionally, he's contributed songs to the soundtracks of That Summer (1979), Party Party (1982), ET (1982), Club Paradise (1986), The Courier (1988), GBH (TV drama series 1991), Bringing It All Back Home (BBC TV series 1991) and Until The End Of The World (1993). A fair CV even if Barry Norman is not, as yet, a member of the Elvis Costello fan club.
