The Oswego Shopper

Singer-Songwriter Elvis Costello will bring his brand of pop music to the SUNY College at Oswego’s Laker Hall at 8 p.m. Friday, April 24, when he performs in concert with Nick Lowe.

Costello has been a popular part of the music scene on both sides of the Atlantic, premiering in England in 1976 and in the United States a year later.

In 1977 he cut his debut album, My Aim Is True, produced by Lowe and including the singles "Alison" and "The Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes."

He performed with The Attractions until 1984 and in 1986 was awarded the critics’ "Performer of the Year Award." Costello’s most recent U.S. release is last fall’s LP Blood and Chocolate, which contains the hit "Tokyo Storm Warning."

Lowe, a songwriter, produce and performer, is noted for his top singles "Cruel to Be Kind" and "I Knew the Bride (When She Used to Rock and Roll)."

Although he toured with Costello for more than a decade, he is famous in his own right on both sides of the Atlantic.

Tickets for the concert are available at the College at Oswego Box Office in the Hewitt Union at all Ticketron outlets. For more information, call the Program Policy Board at 341-2192 or the box office at 341-2301.
