Stiffs preparing to hit the road

Allison Sheppard

Extracts from Sheppard's Made in Britain column:

The Stiffs are about to hit the road again in October and November when Elvis Costello, Ian Dury, Nick Lowe, Wreckless Eric and Larry Wellis appear in the Stiffs greatest Stiffs Live Tour! The tour consists of 24 concerts, and a barrage of new records has been released to coincide with it.

The opening night will be recorded for a live album, Stiffs' Greatest Stiffs Live, and will be available four days later.

Two leading bands, Brand X and Crawler have been added to the Santana bill at London's Crystal Palace this month. This is the tenth Crystal Palace Garden Party and other bands in the line-up include Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes and Ronny Spector. A final guest is still to be announced.

Graham Parker and The Rumour have found a major problem concerning their new album Stick to Me. After first pressings it was discovered that there was a serious fault in the bass end of the recording. The band is now back in the studio re-recording, but so as to keep to the release date, the band has had to cancel a European tour with the exception of four days in Scandinavia. The band has now planned to add a four-piece brass section to any future live work.
