Punch The Clock

Elvis Costello

Steve Cohen

As an artist who has proven himself time and again, Costello follows suit with his summer release, Punch The Clock. This is a record that tries hard to please and does just that. Costello's earlier course guitar riffs are substituted with a powerful horn section. Do not be led astray, this record is a strong collection of ballads and pop songs. "Let Them All Talk," "Everyday I Write the Book" and "The Greatest Thing" do everything but leap of the vinyl and converge, while "Shipbuilding Time" dims the lights and calls a truce. It is Costello where he wants to be and it fits like a glove.
