Glastonbury Festival
Elvis Costello And The Attractions
Select
Extract:
Saturday night, main stage
The old campaigner valiantly took the stage to do battle with the deathless techno hordes on the second stage. There he was with a song in his heart and a questionable pun in every other verse. Realistically, he must have known he was playing his last Glastonbury, but he made light of his crumbling knees and lack of pace. Career-spanning hits were delivered in cheering and thrilling profusion.
Best bit: "Watching The Detectives" when the bloke in front started doing a Columbo impression. "Just the facts, ma'am," he said.
