Curious Costello
Showbiz Weekly
Elvis Costello has made a career out of following his musical curiosity. He plays with The Impostors at The Joint Inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino March 25 at 8 p.m.
The eclectic songwriter's first full-length orchestral work Il Sogno (The Dream) was originally commissioned in 2000 by the Italian Dance Company, Aterbaletto, for their adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Following a premiere performance in Bologna with the Orchestra del Teatro Communale, the ballet was staged throughout Europe.
Costello's newest effort is The Delivery Man, recorded in Oxford, Miss., and flavored with what The New York Times describes as, "...steeped in Southern Americana: the gospel-rooted grooves of Memphis soul, touches of pedal steel guitar, Southern-rooted guest singers Including Emmylou Harris and Lucinda Williams and the storytelling that Southern soul shares with country music."
Enjoy all the many styles of Costello at the Hard Rock Hotel. Tickets are $43, $68 & 78.
