Elvis Costello must rank as the most unlikely looking rock superstar since his semi-lookalike, Buddy Holly — yet that's precisely what he is.

And the scrawny, bespectacled little character's magnificent new single, "I Don't Want To Go To Chelsea" (Radar), is currently providing firm evidence in the matter.

His unmistakable vocal ducks and weaves its way through an amazing framework of electronic keyboards and lively guitar, with an end result that easily lives-up to the high standard set by the superb "Watching the Detectives."

Undoubtedly my Single of the Week, from the most exciting performer to hit rock in years. Rating: 9½.
