Watching The Detectives

Steve Trevor

Elvis Costello

Produced again by Nick Lowe, the B side contains two live cuts, "Blame It On Cain" and "Mystery Dance," the latter is a good rocker in the Freddy Cannon mold. The A side "Watching The Detectives," has a strong "reggae" influence with an infectious bass line that runs throughout. The track features a strangely sinister guitar line that leads into the vocal track (a typical Costello narrative). This one really grows on you, I can't seem to get it out of my head. A definite hit!
