Radar Records, the independent label that was bought out by WEA in the autumn after hitting financial problems, will continue to operate as a label, although it will now be administered from WEA's head offices with no separate staff.
WEA boss John Fruin has said that Radar will be developed as "a separate entity" within the company. Apart from Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe, both of which are licensed deals, Radar has had little success in Britain, but both Bram Tchaikovsky and The Yachts are now starting to make an impact in America (where the label is distributed by Phonogram) and The Inmates have been quite successful here recently.
