Elvis Costello performs Friday

Syracuse Post-Standard

Singer-songwriter Elvis Costello will bring his brand of pop music to the State College at Oswego's Laker Hall at 8 p.m. Friday when he performs in concert with Nick Lowe.

Costello has been a popular part of the music scene on both sides of the Atlantic, premiering in England in 1976 and in the United States a year later.

In 1977 he cut his debut album, My Aim Is True, produced by Lowe and including the hit singles "Alison" and "The Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes."

He performed with "The Attractions" until 1984 and in 1986 was awarded the critics' "Performance of the Year Award." Costello's most recent U.S. release is last fall's LP Blood and Chocolate, which contains the hit "Tokyo Storm Warning,"

Lowe, a songwriter, producer and performer, is noted for his top singles "Cruel to Be Kind" and "I Knew the Bridge (When She Used to Rock and Roll)."

Tickets for the concert are $15 each and are available at the College at Oswego Box Office in the Hewitt Union and at all Ticketron outlets.

For more information, call the Program Policy Board.
