Costello date set for island

Thanet Times

Elvis Costello is the latest attraction to be booked at Margate's Winter Gardens.

He cancelled a concert earlier this year, but a new date has been fixed for 24 October. Elvis, with his unmistakable voice, has had a string of hits since rising to stardom in the seventies.

Playing with his band The Attractions, he had chart successes with "Alison," "Miracle Man," "Watching the Detectives," "Oliver's Army," and "I Don't Want to Go to Chelsea."

In recent years he went through a country-style phase, and had another hit with "Good Year for the Roses."

Throughout the changes Elvis has retained his dedicated fans, who flocked to his concert at Margate several years ago.

To coincide with the current tour Elvis has released a single under the pseudonym, The Imposter. The song, "Pills and Soap," is climbing up the charts.

Tickets for the concert will go on sale shortly at £4 in advance, £4.50 on the door.
