Discography correction: Hollywood High e.p. is Sam 90.

Attraction Steve born Steve Young.

"I Wrote This Song" on 50 Million bootleg is in fact "The Roadette Song."

Rick Howell writes from the U.S.A. that both original and bootleg copies of El Mocambo have hand-scratched matrix. Also original covers are light-weight with white inside, boots are heavier, inside grey or brown. Original back covers in cream old newspaper effect. I should add that my copy has white inside and back?

Rock on Tyne gig included "Goody Miss 2 Shoes," "Man Out of Time," "Tears Before Bedtime" "Human Hands," "Long Honeymoon," "Town Crier," "Town Where Time Stood Still."

Rumours suggest El may knock touring on the head and stick to selected gigs.

NME's Dancin' Master cassette includes "Big Sister," a funky new tune to the lyrics of "Clothes" from the Trust sessions — nice but not remarkable.

P. Horsted writes that his "Clubland" 45 has A-side label both sides.

You will have seen that L.W.T. brought the T.V. show forward by a week — sorry.

Many queries re "Red Shoes." The special reverse telephone-directory design is technically a pic sleeve.

The twin girls used in the "Roses" promo film at Meldrum House were recruited, along with a violin, from the local music school.

Almost Blue cover comes in various shades including blue, lilac and yellow. Also now appearing with a new sticker "Includes the hit singles 'Good Year For the Roses' and 'Sweet Dreams,' a good choice for the next single, I predict it will outchart "Roses."

Promo copies of the album, signed by Elvis and the Attractions, in a numbered limited edition, with special sleeve, with El introducing the songs, changing hands for anything from £30-50.

The Albert Hall gig on January 7 to be filmed and recorded live — should be a great show — see you there!

Radio 1: My Top 12
Beatles' "Please Please Me" first single and album bought ... "Ballads are my favourite thing" ... Why the name? 'Cos there's only two and it makes you think again." ... Liverpool soccer fan. ... "Got to be more and more careful not to repeat myself." ... "Not keen on the live thing — records are the thing."

Russell Harty T.V. Show
"I think that my writing, or at least the way my writing is viewed, has become a little precious and introspective over the last album, album and a half maybe."

E.C. in Nashville [South Bank Show]
"Live fast, die young" is a myth "which I don't subscribe to — yet." Later says he is becoming "inexorably drawn" to the idea. "I think this business sucks you in eventually." "I've had the disturbing impression that my work has been based around the perversion of truth for quite a while."

TV Times
"I picked the songs I could relate to — love, marriage, drinking. Songs about God, family or patriotism are not for me. I'm more renowned for being miserable than happy. Even when things are going well, I have a permanent sense of sadness. I don't want to be a guru. I don't want to be loved, because I'm as worthless as anybody else." Asked if his fans will like the C&W songs he shrugs, "I have always found commercial success to be in inverse proportion to creative success." Re his sunglasses: "I started to wear them so I could go to supermarkets without being recognised. The people that talk to you always seem to be the brash, unpleasant ones. Nice people you might like to meet are shy and respect your privacy. Now the glasses have become a bad habit. But perhaps I'll change my image soon and get rid of them."

Melody Maker
Elvis reviewed the singles 31.10.81.

Both musically and as a person it looks like El is accessible — for now!
