40 years on ..........................
One of the later acquisitions, this remained hidden for many years and I only received my copy in a trade in the late 90s. It's not a great recording as there is a lot of boom in the sports hall and is only most noticeable for the debut of Goon Squad as the first ever live performance of this song. It has a different chorus and it's easy to see just why Elvis changed it after this performance. There's a slight jump in the middle of Watching The Detectives and a bit of an argument with the audience in Lipstick Vogue where Elvis seems to be asking if someone wants to go home !?! A bit strange. Also before the start of Miracle Man as the first encore, The Clash's Career Opportunities can be heard, presumably being played over the P.A. as if expecting Elvis not to come back and this occurs with a different track before the final encore of Mystery Dance. Again most likely only to appeal to completists, I recall being very excited about receiving this and feeling slightly let down - apart from the Goon Squad debut - I'll attach a sample of that for your perusal.
