Elvis Costello Gives His Memoir a Companion Comp

Alex Hudson

On October 13, iconic songwriter Elvis Costello will release his memoir Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink via Blue Rider Press/Penguin Random House. Now, he's revealed that there will be a companion soundtrack album that will arrive a few days beforehand.

The compilation is called Unfaithful Music & Soundtrack Album, and it's due out on October 9 through UMe. The collection includes songs from throughout Costello's career that bear emotional connections to the stories explored in the book.

The two-CD, 39-song set includes back catalogue songs with the Roots, George Jones, Brian Eno, Burt Bacharach and more. Most excitingly, there are two previously unreleased songs: the 1975 solo recording "I Can't Turn It Off" and a team-up with Rosanne Cash, Kris Kristofferson and John Leventhal called "April 5th." The album wraps up with something called "Sketches from Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink," which a press release explains consists of three "audio book sketches" that don't appear in the memoir.

Unfaithful Music & Soundtrack Album comes with a 28-page booklet containing lyrics and previously unseen photographs.
