Costello confirms date
Ted Drozdowski
The prime concert news this week is a final date has been set for the Elvis Costello show coming to Hartford.
On April 11 the spectacled Soho pseudo-punk will be playing the Hard Rock Cafe, 164 Dexter Ave., West Hartford. If you jumped the gun and bought tickets for the previously announced April 4 date, which was quickly rescheduled, they will be honored at the door.
This year's U.S. Costello Tour comes after his announcement last September that he'd never play the U.S. again because the audiences were "unappreciative" (my word, his were a bit less restrained). After "The Angels Want to Wear My Red Shoes" and "Watching the Detectives" blasted holes in the charts, and in the minds of many music critics, Elvis seems to have taken a change of heart with a little greenback incentive. His live album, recorded in a bizarre little hole in California, is also soaring steadily higher. If you've heard the album, or know anything about his concert in New Haven last year, you know it's bound to be a heck of a show.
