If you're an avid visitor of Muziek.nl, you're probably familiar with the Listening Post. At present, there are two interesting albums added to the Listening Post, namely Elton John & Leon Russell - The Union and Elvis Costello - National Ransom.
{{ | As its predecessor Secret Profane and Sugarcane (2009) National Ransom, the 33rd album from workaholic Costello, was produced by T Bone Burnett and recorded in Nashville (if we may believe the rumours in less than 12 days). Under the co-musicians the faithful friends of The Imposters and The Sugar Canes. Plus performances by Vince Gill, Marc Ribot, Buddy Miller and Leon Russell with almost a logical consequence 'rootsy' feel. Despite the frequent use of steel guitar, mandolin, dobro and violin, the atmosphere more towards the "rhythm & harmonies" of R & B or even gospel, then bluegrass direction.
Almost all the songs on National Ransom were written by Costello, except I lost you, All thesis strangers and My Lovely Jezebel that were written respectively with Jim Lauderdale and T Bone Burnett together.
