For a person who undoubtedly thought he had a mandate to revolutionize pop music, Elvis Costello certainly sounds mild these days. | |||
Maybe it's the fact that he's finally entering the circle of respectability. (I think that happened just after Linda Ronstadt recorded "Alison"). At any rate, this is his most commercial effort to date with a nice mixture of rock ballads and standard British nostalgia. Ah, the temptation of hit albums! | |||
