WHO IS HE: With his trademark Buddy Holly glasses, blazer and tight jeans, Elvis Costello burst onto the scene in the late 1970s with his brand of pop/punk/rock that was derivative, yet totally unique at the same time. His biting lyrics and punching delivery set him apart from his contemporaries and guaranteed a loyal cult following. Costello’s hits include “Alison,” “Veronica,” “(What’ So Funny ‘bout) Peace, Love and Understanding,” “Radio Radio” and “Pump it Up.” His band The Imposters features Steve Nieve and Pete Thomas from The Attractions along with bassist Davey Faragher.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Few artists have taken so many chances, experimented with so many different styles and genres and been as successful at each as Elvis Costello. 39 years into his splendid career, Costello is still going for broke, belting out lyrics about love, betrayal, sadness and defiance, while backed by one of the best bands in the business, The Imposters. On Saturday night Costello will tackle Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa and immerse his fans with classics such as “Radio Radio,” “Accidents Will Happen,” “Watching the Detectives,” “Alison,” “I Want You” and “(What’ So Funny ‘bout) Peace, Love and Understanding.”
WHAT’S NEW: Last year Costello released an autobiography titled “Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink.”
