Rockpile autumn tour
Sounds
Dave Edmunds' Rockpile, who are number 32 in this week's singles chart with "I Knew The Bride," will be undertaking their first major British tour in October.
The band are currently taking a break following an extensive American tour with Bad Company, although they will be getting back together to record a Granada TV special with Elvis Costello at the beginning of August. In September they will start rehearsing for the tour, the details of which are now being finalised. They will not be going into the studio until after the tour, however.

Paranoia hits rivals
Jaws
Who's feeling insecure then? Remember last week's cheeky ad for Elvis Costello, which directed readers to collect pages from all three rock papers to complete an Elvis C wallposter? Seems Sounds readers were the only ones who were able to piece the poster together, because both the MM and NME censored the references to the other music papers, making the ad meaningless. Seems they were scared that readers who sampled the forbidden delights of Sounds would like what they saw. We, on the other hand were confident that Sounds readers would simply tear out the Elvis pics from these timorous other weeklies and consign the rest to the trash can. PS: Which of these papers had an emergency meeting recently to discuss falling circulation?

Sounds notes the upcoming taping of the Granada TV special, August 2, Eric's, Liverpool.
Jaws reports that last week's six-part, three-publication ad campaign for My Aim Is True was censored in NME and Melody Maker, removing the references to the rival publications.
