There's another Elvis on the music front today, but he doesn't sing "Suspicious Minds" close his shows with "Can't Help Falling In Love." He's Elvis Costello, an awkward looking 22 year old Englishman whose debut on the music scene includes his My Aim Is True LP.
With the release of his LP, Costello has been the subject of a minor media blitz, including inevitable comparisons with other established artists, including Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. But Costello has responded in turn. "This influence stuff is really irritating, 'cos people are always trying to pin you down to sounding like somebody else."
Well if nothing else, Costello doesn't sound like other musicians. And in the interest of objectivity (What?) we won't tell you whether or not My Aim Is True is a landmark LP. But we'll let you find out for yourself. To the first five winners of the following rock music mid-term, we'll award a copy of Elvis Costello's My Aim Is True.
