1980's ''Get Happy!!'' is still an extraordinary record, four young men wild-eyed with tour and drug madness locked in a Dutch studio attempting to impersonate the entire Motown roster. "Love For Tender," "High Fidelity" and, on this edition, 28 others, bear timeless testament to their success.

''Trust'', which followed barely a year later, marked the first real stirrings of EC's soon-to-be-notorious eclecticism. From savage country ("Different Finger") to arch balladry ("New Lace Sleeves") to unabashed punk rock ("From A Whisper To A Scream"), it was another tumultuous triumph.

Like last year's 2½ Years box set, these come complete with bemused commentary by Elvis and generous helpings of offcuts and rareties.

1980's Get Happy!! is still an extraordinary record, four young men wild-eyed with tour and drug madness locked in a Dutch studio attempting to impersonate the entire Motown roster. "Love For Tender," "High Fidelity" and, on this edition, 28 others, bear timeless testament to their success.

Trust, which followed barely a year later, marked the first real stirrings of EC's soon-to-be-notorious eclecticism. From savage country ("Different Finger") to arch balladry ("New Lace Sleeves") to unabashed punk rock ("From A Whisper To A Scream"), it was another tumultuous triumph.
