There seems to be a bit of a change in the concerts since the performances when Elvis first commenced the second U.S. tour in January 1978. Now the concerts that, for the most part have been captured by FM radio, no longer feature a mini-set with Nick Lowe joining the Attractions but instead seem a fairly straight-forward band concert. There is little of note here except that Elvis mentions talking to the radio ( and dedicating Big Tears to anyone who "doesn't like me") and we get the most coherent version of the Dallas version of Less Than Zero where the focus is shifted from Oswald Moseley, the British apologist for Fascism in the 1930s and 40s and instead reflect the imaginary happening around the assassination of JFK and Lee Harvey Oswald's role. This is in fact the 4th time that this version has been performed live having previously been performed at Dallas, St. Louis and Kansas earlier in the tour. I believe this is a recording taken from the KBCO radio source but is quite a lo-fi recording. At one point I believe the levels have been adjusted and it may have been that the master was recorded at levels which give some distortion and it also cuts off the end of Watching the Detectives at 45 minutes and a few seconds which suggest someone's cassette ran out and there's no sign of a second side which would surely include the remainder of the concert and the encore tracks. I have played around with the levels using Nero 8 and an old version of Audacity and there are peaks in the wave form rather than a blanket peak level that occurs when the master was recorded at too high a volume, so there is some contrast in the songs but there is also a degree of distortion which may put some of you off. Listen to the samples and make your own choice of course. I know you completists who'll capitulate whatever the quality - after all I'm just like you !
