40 years (and a bit) on .......................................... The final gig in the United States for Elvis, the Attractions and Squeeze and a final sense of coming to the end of the road in this recording where there are no fresh songs performed and a few are definitely given a perfunctory reading for once. That's not to say that the audience wasn't lapping it up and Elvis is the one who seems less inhibited or jaded throughout though there are again a few songs where he deviated from the original melody line though whether to rest his voice (though there's been no sign of him having any vocal problems in any of the previously recorded concerts), or because he fancied a change only he knows! So, not a lot to report from this concert which GP kindly sent me as an upgrade to my high generation recording, thanks Gio. Steve plays a staccato series of phrases in "Red Shoes" at the lines "She said drop dead and left with another guy" but otherwise seems to have been fairly low key throughout the concert. The version of "Walk And Don't Look Back" is heavily bass driven whereas before the song had featured Martin Belmont's lead more prominently. Both sources have a cut at the end of "Watching The Detectives" but only a few seconds are lost.
