Missing images

Images which were bulk imported from JohnE's pre-wiki still have pages and descriptions. The images are in the images/ directory as expected but do not display. Some inpacted pages are:

All missing images have been reuploaded, and the remnants of the faulty files deleted:

What about these?
Special:WantedFiles
-- DrSpooky (talk)
These appear to be a combination of both pre- and post-upgrade issues. Mostly pre-upgrade, I believe, but I could be wrong

with::band::artist not processed correctly

The site uses "double ::" notation which is not processed correctly.
We have no explanation.
The fix appears to be dropping one of the properties. But do we want "with::Artist" or "band::Artist"? -- DrSpooky (talk)

Nicking from emails on this issue, both with:: and band:: used to work (together) on the EC Wiki, "but if it doesn't work with the current software, we can adapt."
...it is referenced on semantic-mediawiki.org with [[capital of::located in::Germany]] as the example
("which is the same as writing [[capital of::Germany]] and [[located in::Germany]], but it will show only one link to Germany."):

To workaround this issue, Nunki edited some 450+ concert pages, plus each of the 50 Lineups templates.

checkImages.php Results

I ran checkImages.php maintenance script and it reported

  • 1977-10-29_New_Musical_Express_cover.jpg: missing

This does seem to be the case but the images/ directory has these. Could one of them be the missing image and this be a bad reference?

  • ./0/03/1977-10-29_New_Musical_Express_photo_01.jpg
  • ./3/31/1977-10-29_New_Musical_Express_page_11_clipping.jpg
  • ./3/33/1977-10-29_New_Musical_Express_page_29_clipping.jpg
  • ./6/66/1977-10-29_New_Musical_Express_page_09.jpg
  • ./8/8d/1977-10-29_New_Musical_Express_page_28_advertisement.jpg
  • ./9/9f/1977-10-29_New_Musical_Express_page_27_clipping.jpg
  • ./d/db/1977-10-29_New_Musical_Express_cover_1.jpg
  • ./e/e0/1977-10-29_New_Musical_Express_page_28.jpg

The page looks fine to me; no missing images:
New Musical Express, October 29, 1977
-- Zmuda (talk) 23:36, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
Weird. I ran it again and it is down to the file: 1977-10-29_New_Musical_Express_cover.jpg
I went directly to this URL (https://elviscostello.info//wiki/index.php?title=File:1977-10-29_New_Musical_Express_cover.jpg) and it says the file is missing and unreferenced. I suspect the page can just be deleted. What do you think?
DrSpooky (talk)
I see now. I haven't encountered this before; and it won't let me delete it.
Would you please delete it (or them), if it lets you? I have a replacement file ready to take their place.

Edits causing jobs backlog

There appears to be an update job which needs to run after the semantic content is updated. This can take a while to clear out.

TBD: Add screenshot.

The "fix" is to be patient. There is a way to manually force the jobs to run as part of mediawiki maintenance.

In Progress.jpg - Currently being worked on by nunki.

Semantic "further results" not displaying correctly

The semantic ask pages that display more than the "limit" parameter, then shows a "...further results" link at the bottom of the page.
Clicking this link displays a page that is not shown correctly. It appears that the date is missing.
e.g. Audio files

Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls

Nine song pages, with nothing else apparently in common are now showing in a new category: Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls.
The nine songs include April 5th, Cecilia and Purple Rain. This issue also seems to affect some pages that include those nine songs - for example: 2½ Years.
-- Nick Ratcliffe

Can you see what template call is wrong? I scanned a couple of those pages and don't see anything. But I haven't done that much with the semantic markup.
DrSpooky (talk)
I fixed these (Pages with duplicate arguments in template calls) a couple hours ago, and hence the category is now empty.
Evidently, before the software update, if a call to a template had duplicate arguments, such as two "|length = " or two "|first = " or two "|last =",
it would just ignore the first argument and use the second one. But the new software tags such pages with this new category.
|length =
|albums =
|singles =
|collections = [[Unfaithful Music & Soundtrack Album]], 2015
|soundtracks =
|various_artists =
|promos =
|videos =
|length = 4:31
The following 10 pages were affected; check the history if you care see what the "duplicate arguments" were, in which "template calls".
2½ Years I Let The Sun Go Down April 5th Stranger In The House Viceroy's Row

Purple Rain National Ransom (song) Come The Meantimes Cecilia Let Me Roll It
-- Zmuda (talk) 20:43, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
This issue seems to have cropped up again and now affects a page and a template:
The Return Of The Spectacular Spinning Songbook and Template:2013-01-26 Yarra Valley photo browser
Can the same fix be applied to these?

Page views

Prior to the update/upgrade, in the footer of every page there was a counter for the number of page views. E.g. This page has been viewed 42 times.

I found it of use and interest. Since the update, this has disappeared. Is there any way of restoring this feature under the current version of MediaWiki?
--Nick Ratcliffe (talk) 05:43, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

I agree. Is there a way to re-enable this feature?

Incorrect properties

This is a new one on me, since the update/upgrade. This page is coming up with a Category (in red) in the footer of "Incorrect properties".

Performances_of_Unchained_Melody

This is not part of the formatting for the templates used on this page. What it may be saying, is that there is a conflict here with some other template. The page is for performances of a song which is categorised as a snippet, but it may also be categorised elsewhere as a song in its own right.

Confusingly, if I click on the "Category:Incorrect properties" it takes me to a page that only lists one page in that category - but it is not "Unchained Melody".

What is this telling us?

Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls

Page is locked until the primary specification update is completed

I have just tried to create a new Category for 2024 interviews. I got an error message saying: "Category "2024 interviews" was altered and requires assigned entities to be reevaluated using a change propagation process. In the meantime, the category page has been locked until the primary specification update is completed to prevent intermediary interruptions or contradictory specifications. The process may take a moment before the page can be unlocked as it depends on the size and frequency of the job queue scheduler." What does this all mean, and how can I create a new Category without getting this alert?"
