"The Songs of Bacharach & Costello" è il titolo del nuovo cofanetto che, in arrivo il prossimo 3 marzo, raccoglie il lavoro realizzato da Elvis Costello e Burt Bacharach nel corso della loro collaborazione di oltre venticinque anni. Il box set includerà quindi il materiale realizzato insieme dai due artisti, rimasterizzato, oltre ad altri duetti, materiale inedito e registrazioni dal vivo. La pubblicazione di prossima uscita sarà disponibile anche in versione super deluxe da 4 CD o 2 LP contenente rare fotografie, appunti sulle sessioni e un saggio di Costello sul lavoro con Bacharach.
I due hanno iniziato a lavorare insieme nel 1995 e tre anni più tardi hanno dato alle stampe l'album "Painted From Memory" che, tra le altre cose, include il brano "I Still Have That Other Girl" vincitore di un Grammy Award come "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals". Tra il materiale inedito di "The Songs of Bacharach & Costello", è incluso un disco intitolato "Taken From Life", che contiene brani realizzati per un adattamento teatrale del disco del 1998.
Come anticipazioni del box set in arrivo il prossimo marzo, sono state pubblicate due tracce live. Una è l'esecuzione dal vivo di "In The Darkest Place", tratta da un concerto del 1999 all'Athenaeum Theatre di Melbourne in Australia, un'altra propone la versione live di "Painted From Memory" da uno show dello stesso anno al Berwaldhallen di Stoccolma, e la terza è la registrazione di "Anyone Who Had A Heart" dallo spettacolo alla Royal Festival Hall di Londra del 1998.
